Outline of 10th Anniversary Events /
The Isamu Noguchi Garden Museum

The Isamu Noguchi Garden Museum Japan was opened in 1999, ten years after Noguchi's death, in accordance with his wish that the place where he studied stone be used for philanthropic and educational purposes. What value is there in art, he often asked, other than as a gift for the future? The Museum preserves the space in which Noguchi worked as if the stones are just waiting for him to return. The sole objective of this tenth anniversary commemoration is to ensure that his precious legacy, this space in Mure, will continue to be protected as a priceless heritage for the world and passed on to succeeding generations. The anniversary events will increase the number of people who appreciate and understand the significance of the Isamu Noguchi Garden Museum Japan and its surroundings and who support its continuation.
